Polio Plus Program

Wayne Staton was born in the Lynchbirg, Virginia area in 1951and lived there most of his life. He contracted polio at the age of 8 months. It left him with a weak right hip and leg. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Physics with honors. After college he started his career in computers and has worked in that field ever since. Since 1999 he has worked at BMC Software, where he is a Senior Technical Support Analyst. In Virginia, he was a Briefing Leader for the Hunger Project and President of the Boonsboro Ruritan Club in Lynchburg, Virginia. Here in Texas, he is active with Rotary International and Landmark Education. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Sharpstown. He is on the board of advisors for Zeons, a Social Purpose Corporation investing in international development and emerging underserved markets. Its mission is to mobilize diverse resources to solve the world's most pressing problems, particularly those in developing countries. Wayne has 3 grown children and two grand-children. He is engaged to Gwen Corolla – his partner in Come Together Promotions – where we help YOUR plans come together and his partner in making the world a better place. Wayne is a Paul Harris Fellow, a Paul Harris Society member, A Polio Plus Society member and a Major Donor. He is the current District Chair for Polio Plus. |

Luncheon and Presentation 11:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. RIP Ian’s theme “Rotary: Making a Difference” resonates with Rotarians. To truly make a difference Rotary must remain the preeminent service organization for the future and the Future is Now. Our club is supporting RIP Ian’s commitment to Rotary Making a Difference with a “Make a Difference by Embracing the Future” sponsorship. This event is open to public registration. This event is limited to first 45 that register. Cost will be $25. Rotarians will be billed. Others need to send check made out to Katy Rotary and send to Attn: Julie Sawyer, Katy Rotary PO Box 70 Katy TX 77492.
The Beer bus tour set!!
We will have another great afternoon of fellowship and fun visiting our partners in brewing! Nick will send out a Google form to sign up; space will be very limited therefore if you wish to come, please sign up ASAP. Our friends at the "Texas Beer Bus" will transport us to and from No Label, we will have some fun things in store for all, and I am looking forward to spending this afternoon with you! Details as follows:
Date: January 20th Drop off and pick up: No Label Brewery in Katy Breweries visited: 8th Wonder, Buffalo Bayou, and Eureka Heights. Time of pick up: "tentatively scheduled for 10 AM at this time at No Label." Cost: $25 per person - Julie will invoice you It will be a fantastic time while sampling some great beer....I hope you can come!! You will not be disappointed!!
