Newsletter for the week of 11/15/12

Greetings Fellow Rotarians!

Another week in Texas and the weather is changing once again.  Shorts and flip flops on Saturday and now jackets on Tuesday. Gotta love it.

 Last week:

New member induction ceremony.  New inductees Molly Smart and Lauren Ditchman were formally inducted into the club and were all smiles with a little help from the awesome duo of Carol and Alison.

Katy ISD recognition and commendation certificate.  The Katy Rotary Club is truly honored by the commendation and recognition from Katy ISD superintendent and fellow Rotarian Alton Frailey.  The students of our district are fortunate for your leadership and the club is excited to continue supporting the kids of this wonderful Katy ISD.  Rotarians David Loesch, Malcolm Junior, Ed Bland, and Ralph Brock were presented the commendation certificate by Superintendent Frailey at the Seven Lakes versus Memorial High School football game on Saturday 11/3/12.

Frank Miner, Katy VFW 9182, thank you letter.  Frank Miner flew the White House Marine helicopter for the President (Marine Air Force One when the President was on board).  The club was formally thanked for contributions made on its behalf by fellow Rotarians/VFW members.  We thank all of of our veterans for their service to our country.  We applaud you always and especially on Veterans Day.

Rotary Flag Exchange. Club President, Ralph Brock, greeted and exchanged flags with a visiting Rotarian from India (Anand Narayan of  the Rotary Club of Belthangady).

 This Week:

Club Speaker for 11/15/12.  Our speaker this week will be Julia Jiang and her topic will be "Shen Yun: Reviving the Traditional Chinese Civilization."  The Shen Yun website has lots of related information and videos for your enjoyment (http:www.shenyunperformingart.org/).

Mark you calendars!  No meeting at Hasta La Pasta on 11/22/12 (Thanksgiving), 12/6/12 (Christmas party at Meadow Brook Farms Golf Club that evening), and 12/27/12 (Christmas). 

Other dates to consider:  11/15/12 (Brewfest captains meeting at Loesch office at 5:30p-7p) and 11/29/12 (Club Board meeting at Loesch office at 5:45p- 7p ; board members expected and all interested Rotarians welcome)

New downloads to clubrunner documents section: Club financial statement for October 2012(Club Financials), Club commendation certificate(club business), Fund financial documents (Fund Financial).  The clubrunner documents section has a vast amount of information about the club and fund for access by the membership at your leisure.

Newsletter: Unfortunately, our former newsletter editor, Lauren Ditchman, will not be able to continue in this capacity.  Ralph Brock is the editor of this newsletter and will return as editor in later issues(March 2013 +). David Loesch will take over as newsletter editor next week and continue until February 2013.  The newsletter editor position is open for any willing Rotarian of the club.
